Oliver Smart
Oliver founded Folded Feather in 2011 as the creative vehicle for his collaboration with talented individuals and brilliant organisations.
He has worked with some of the most highly innovative independent companies as well as the larger names in entertainment.
With a passion for finding and projecting the character through objects he has been involved at the early stages of many theatre creation processes. Companies he has worked with include the Theatre Royal Bath, Turtle Key, Flying Cloud, Sixth Sense and of course Folded Feather.
Oliver has a wealth of experience in presenting and puppeteering on screen and in this capacity he has worked with amongst others Disney, ITV and Nickelodeon.
Oliver loves sharing his thoughts, ideas and techniques concerning the art of puppet performance, design and fabrication.
As a puppetry consultant Oliver has worked with a team of digital animators at Sony Entertainment Europe, given a creative inspiration session at Proximity London and been involved in the workshopping/research and development/rehearsal process for Folded Feather (Nice 2012, Suitcase Circus 2009), Theatre Royal Bath (The Tempest 2012), Travelling Light (Bob, the Man on the Moon 2010), Sixth Sense (The Giving Tree 2010), LAMA Creative (Neverwhere 2012), Turtle Key Arts (Napoli 2012), Finger in the Pie (Waiting for Stanley 2011), Flying Cloud (Napoli 2012) and Blind Summit (early workshopping of 1984 2008).
Oliver has designed and facilitated puppetry masterclasses for The National Theatre (War Horse puppeteer’s reinvigoration sessions 2012) and the Latvia Puppet Theatre (2011).
